“The stand/legs are are not adjustable on the Sony 65" XR90. Is there a spot on the TV closer to the center that I could add a stand independent of Sony's? If not the legs would be 2.5" from the end of my TV stand; would this be a safe enough distance?”

even though the legs are not adjustable per Sony, there is a way to make the legs only 44 inches apart. Unbolt the 5 screws holding the leg from the slide in mounting plate and switch legs left to right and visa versa. The legs still face the correct way and the plates still slide in and lock into the correct slot. It gains the width of the plates. It looks more like the pictures on the box too.

We never opened or looked at the package containing the legs nor did we look at the bottom of the television in regards to the legs. Our plan all along was to mount it to the wall. I hope someone can answer your question.
