Hi TheBeardedGamer, This is correct you will need to change the HDMI format each time. We recommend using the internal apps in the TV for the best quality video. If you must use a Firestick, please use for example HDMI #4 and change the format to Dolby Vision. For the receiver use HDMI #3 and leave it on VRR if a gaming console is connected. This way you will not need to change the HDMI format. HDMI#3 is also the eARC port so even if you are watching the Firestick you will get Dolby Atmos sound via HDMI. Hope this helps. -David

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Oof. I have been looking for an answer to this question as I want to run my Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, PS5, and Apple TV 4K through my receiver and have the only connection to the TV be the eARC HDMI. Not having the TV auto switch between what feed it's getting is a terrible solution. Seems like a nitpick but so many other televisions auto-switch that I'll likely just pick something else up instead of a Sony.
