The led arrays are smaller on the 900.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure exactly which specific models you are referring too, but I can comment on the X900E vs the X850E. Both of these models are indeed very similar, but the main difference is Local dimming, brighter screen, and better build quality on the X900E (the X850E has a tiny bit of flex in the corners of the screen where as the X900E does not, also the stand for the X850E is very cheap and flimsy).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I originally bought the 800 and it's a very nice TV. I traded it in a week later for the 900 series because the 800 series wasn't bright enough a nd very dark in hdr. The 900 is definitely better and I recommend spending the extra to get it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This model is, to me, visibly brighter and crisper. I believe it has to do with the backlighting system in the 900 series. Compared 800 and 900 in store and the 900 had a better detail, especially in shadow. Color is natural, not oversaturated like some other better brand TVs I looked at. My wife, the artist with an eye for colors, saw the 900 and said “that one”. Everything I’ve watched on it at home is striking. View both and see if you can see a difference.

It also has the X-tended Dynamic Range™ PRO that provides better overall contrast.
