“First I have a Sony XBR65X900E 4K TV, and I have the first HDMI cable from my APPLE TV 4K running to the HDMI 3 (ARC) Connection of the tv and the other cable running from cable box to HDMI 2. What does (ARC) stand for & will this connection hurt my tv.”

The ARC is an audio return channel which is intended to let you use one connection between your TV and whatever you are using for sound (sound bar, receiver etc). Typically you would connect your other devices to the HDMI and HDMI 2 and use the HDMI 3 for sound options.
