“I see this TV has FALD. Various reviews and forums post different values for the number of local dimming zones this TV has - if they mention it at all. Can anyone tell me DEFINITIVELY how many local dimming zones are present in the XBR65X900E?”

I've seen a few independent tests that show the 65" at 46 zones and the 55" at 36 zones. When the 65" first launched, some tests showed 20 active zones. I purchased the unit purely because I thought it looked better then most units in the store, so I don't think on the low spectrum of 20 zones is a loss, with technology advancing in FALD over the past four years.

Sony doesnt list that. Dont worry too much about the zones whats more important is that the fald is whats lighting the tv. High led is most aggresive so if blooming bothers you set dimming to low and turn off extended dynamic range
