Why has Sony used the adapter as opposed to using a traditional power cord? We have our tv wall mounted with the power cord plugged in behind the tv set on the wall so we don't see cords, but can't figure out what to do with the large adapter? Tie it up? null

This allows for global compatibility (100-240V)...which is what consumers like myself were looking for. Separating the brick is what makes the TV thin too.

The install guide shows you a method to tieup the adapter to back of TV and tie downs should be included. I chose to put mine behind media center since i hung TV.
