Good question. The stand isn't visible when viewed from the front. It is more like a kickstand than a standard TV stand and very heavy to counter-balance the weight of the TV. It keeps the TV approximately 1.5 feet from the wall. I wasn't satisfied with this and had Best Buy install a Rocketfish full motion wall mount which I'm really happy with. It puts the TV 7" from the wall. Rocketfish has a less expensive one that mounts closer to the wall but I wanted to be able to easily access the back panel for plugging in cords and so I opted for the full motion one. Well worth the extra money IMO. BTW - fabulous TV. Picture quality is incredible.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The stand is about 5" thick and very heavy to keep the TV from tipping over. I have the 65"OLED hanging on the wall and not using the stand so I cannot tell you how close I could get the TV to the wall.
