This TV does have an antennae input so if you had some sort of yagi tv antennae then it would pick up local channels. DISH or DIRECT TV would have a recvr box with HDMI out so yes it would work with this TV as well. This set is not complicated to use. The most complicated thing would switching between inputs. The difference between a $750 Sony 65" TV and a $3500 Sony 65" TV is the picture and some bells and whistles. If you want the simplest 65" TV to use, this would be it.
