• The digital audio port allows the TV sound to be off and I get the sound on my Bose system.

• Hi jpscott, thank you for your question. You will not get sound from the audio output of the TV if is muted or the sound is zero-level. The TV automatically disables its own speaker sound when External Speakers or Audio System is selected on the sound settings, the sound will be heard on the audio system connected to it instead.~Earl
