TV has a store return policy that is extended by Best Buy to about January 14 for all holiday season purchases. The Manufacturer Warranty is 1 year from date of purchase. If you purchase with a credit card on credit (not debit), very often your cc company or bank or credit union also offers a 1 yr extended warranty (call and ask for details). Aside from that, you'll have to purchase an extended warranty from Best Buy's Geek Squad, which you have the option of 2 or 5 years. It's a considerable cost at about 20% of purchase price for the 2 yr ext warranty, but offers some peace of mind. The Geek Squad extended warranty is apparently very good, and they'll come to your home to do repairs or pack it up for replacement. This is a nice, convenient benefit, seeing as a large tv can be very difficult to repackage (if you even kept the original box and padding) to ship back to manufacturer for replacement or repair.
