Best Tv at the price out there
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking at many tvs to go along with my ps5 .And after looking at the samsung q80t the vizio and lg oleds I decided to go with the x900h . The amount of value you get for the price of the 65” compared to the other tvs cannot be beat !! The setup was the easiest of any tv i have ever purchased .The color and picture out of the box is beautiful ! I did update the software to get the playstation to run at 4k 120 !! (note : you must adjust the input setting under the watching tv in the settings menu to enhanced to get full 120 hdr for the ps5) I tested out Dirt 5 at 4k 120 and it works perfectly ! I hooked up my dolby atmos soundbar and the way the tv processes the sound is unbelievable !! The soundbar sounds much better than it did with the TCL P605 i replaced this with !! Dolby Vision and the other HDR formats are beautiful !! Needless to say I am very happy with this purchase and higly recommend it to anyone espc if you have a ps5 !

Great display, good future-proofing.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first new TV since buying a 1080p plasma in 2011, and I'm blown away. Unlike other LCD/LED TVs I've seen in action, the black levels on the Sony X900H are phenomenal. Right out of the box the color looked excellent, needing only a few minor adjustments. And 4K + HDR is truly amazing if you're as late to the party as I am. Gaming is one of my main uses for my TV, and the X900H has HDMI 2.1 functionality coming in a firmware update. It's also one of only two Sony TVs labeled "Ready for PlayStation 5" (once that firmware update lands). I currently have a PS4 Pro and a gaming PC connected to it. The PS4 Pro looks great but can't push so many pixels at higher than 30 FPS; my PC on the other hand is sending 1440p to the TV, which is upconverting to 4K cleanly and with no noticeable distortion. I'm getting about 60 FPS in Destiny 2 at 1440p with HDR on, and it's like a completely different game from what I'm used to. Another big plus for the X900H is the Android TV OS. This is bar-none the best TV OS I've ever used. Sony put 3GB of RAM in here, so the UI is very responsive and all the apps load very quickly. That said, I'm less than impressed with the amount of storage space for apps -- after installing several, I was down to 2 GB of free storage remaining. That should be enough, but it's hard to know what the future holds. An honorable mention also goes to Sony's motion smoothing. It's the best I've ever seen. It's a lot less "uncanny valley" soap opera effect and a lot more of a natural smoothing effect. It's still not for everybody, but I like it so much I decided to leave it on for a while. The worst thing about the X900H is that it's only got 30-something local dimming zones. In the 65" size, which I purchased, this is sometimes noticeable when you have a completely black screen with one small bright image on it (like an animated icon on a game loading screen) -- in that case you will sometimes see a rectangle of light bloom behind the icon. This becomes much more noticeable if you're not directly in front of the TV, so be warned. That said, it's amazing what Sony's processing is doing with this few zones. To minimize the bloom, set the Local Dimming mode on "High". If you decide to pick one of these up, check for dirty screen effect (DSE) using one of the many test videos on YouTube. There's kind of a panel lottery involved at this end of the market. Fortunately I lucked out and have no visible banding or shadowing, except for a little vignetting at the corners. Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase and the price I got for this TV. I hope I'll get many years of enjoyment out of it.

False 4K 120hz Advertising But Great Mid-Range TV
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT buy this TV if 4K/120hz is your priority. Let me start by saying I am a dedicated Best Buy shopper for well over a decade. I waited a long time to write this review, but Sony hasn't given me (or X900H owners, in general) much confidence in their customer support. Sure HDMI 2.1 has had a buggy rollout across the industry, but there has been little to no update from Sony if the blurry 4K 120hz on this TV will ever be fixed. There seems to be some kind of bandwidth limitation either within the SoC or HDMI switcher. Not sure if the long-promised update with VRR/ALLM will ever come, and if it will even fix the issue. For all we know Android 11 may be the solution ... so buyer beware. I attached a photo below demonstrating the difference between the 2020 and 2021 versions of this model (although I would also like to note that the 2021 version does make sacrifice in other areas in order to deliver better 4K/120hz). It just doesn't seem like manufacturers have caught up with the technology. Aside from some bugs here and there, this TV is the BEST bang for your buck. Paired with a PS5, I'm amazed at the picture quality and detail. I had to tweak the settings a bit to suit my preferences, but I have no regrets about this purchase. The only upgrade to this TV would be to go OLED, but the very minor differences certainly don't warrant paying twice what you would for this set.

Quality 65” PS5 ready TV at a Affordable price!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely a great buy specially at the discounted price of $969.99. Bought it strictly to enjoy all the benefits of PS5 next gen gaming. I was very surprised at the picture quality when watching movies specially in Dolby vision! The HDR is adequate, it could be a bit better in comparison to my Samsung 55” qled from 2016 but Sony processes colors in such a beautiful manner I can accept that minor set back. The smart capabilities are great, love being able to download certain apps only available in the google play store. Gaming is awesome! SDR gaming is really good. HDR gaming is acceptable but if you adjust the settings depending on the game you can get it to give you that awesome HDR POP HDR gaming is now known for. For some reason which I need to research, this Sony tv is making my existent surround sound system sound way better than any other tv I’ve ever had it hooked to!!!! Overall I’m happy with my purchase. A 65” next gen capable Sony at a great price. Is hard to look elsewhere!! Only wish the x950h was next gen ready. I would’ve bought that one.

Fantastic TV
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible upgrade from my previous Samsung 4k LED (which admittedly had developed about 12 purple/blue patches within 2.5 years of purchase). The build quality on the tv is great and looks sharp either mounted or on a stand. The remote features and functionality are awesome, even though the remote is a bit long. The picture quality is outstanding, great color, contrast, and brightness. Movies in HDR, particularly Dolby Vision, look fantastic. The Android TV interface is fast and seamless and the app store has basically everything you would need. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and smooth the built in interface/streaming functionality is. I never thought I would ditch the Fire Cube for the built in tv option, but here I am. I particularly went with this model to pair with the XBOX Series X and next gen capabilities (120hz, HDMI 2.1, and future promise of VRR and ALLM). Gaming in full 4k with the tv is incredible, but the VRR and ALLM features are not yet available. Once those features are supported I will head back and update the review to 5 stars. Overall, this is a fantastic all around tv choice for those who enjoy high quality 4k, a great streaming interface, and the future next gen gaming functionality.

After a months of research and YouTube...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pulled the trigger on the x900h (x90h). Some context. I am replacing an 2012 LG 3d 55 inch. Loved that TV, but am getting Xbox Series X ready and wanted 4K HDR for gaming, streaming, and movies. The purchase, price was not really a factor, I was willing to buy the Q90t or CX which were about double the price. So, out of the box, with only a few minor settings adjustments, I love this TV: Positives: - HDR: Disney +, Netflix, and movies on Google Play in Dolby Vision are just simply jaw dropping. The blacks are almost OLEDish, the brightness and color is almost QLEDish. Its really the best of both worlds and produces stunning contrast. I am amazed on how good the picture was for the price I paid ($1169 at Best Buy). - This TV is bright- I saw on Rtings.com and Digital Trends that it has a peak brightness of around 750 nits and it worried me. But then some owners said it was plenty bright. So what was it? I turned on the opening of Rise of Skywalker in the Sith Temple on Dolby Vision Bright, I wanted to see a dark scene. The contrast looked like the CX. Every time the lightening flashed my wife and turned our heads because the flash was so bright. I turned down the brightness from 50 to 30 in the settings. (included a pic with Dolby Vision Bright on below) - I saw that some people had issues with banding, I only saw banding on a 720p broadcast of the Indians game. Anything 1080p and 4k that I have watched as not had any banding at all. - I have an original Xbox One. So I could not test out the HDR gaming. I will say, in 1080p, its is the best looking gaming I have done thus far. Forza Horizons is just gorgeous. Did not notice any lag. Negatives: - This is an HDMI 2.1 TV, that, out of the box, is not HDMI 2.1. Sony promises an update to activate the full 2.1 features (VRR, ALLM, 4k at 120hz). As of now, it has not been updated, but I would imagine it will be before the PS5 comes out and you will see the x900h bundled with the PS5 on Black Friday. - Android TV took a few minutes to get used to. Not really a negative, just wish it had the bottom menu like Tizen interface on the Samsungs instead of taking up the whole screen. - On the sound front, I have a Samsung q80 sound bar. I have not played around with the TVs sound at all. Overall: There is so much bang for the buck with this TV. Really eye popping color, super dark blacks, and great contrast. I know it is a "video game" TV spec wise, but I cannot imagine a much better picture for streaming 4K HDR content. If like me, you were torn between higher end models, I say give the x900h (x90h) a shot and save a grand. You will not be disappointed.

Buy this over that!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is so pretty! I’m super picky about TVs and I’ve wanted a 900 series for awhile. Scored a great deal on mine and couldn’t be much happier. With just slight adjustments to the picture settings, you’ll have a banging picture. Great for gaming too, RDR2 has never looked so good. Only thing I miss coming from an LG was the cool screen that incorporated and could control my smart things for the Tv screen. But the UI on this tv is fast and snappy. Unfortunately it’s an andorid Tv in an all Apple home but, the Sony picture is so mesmerizing that we forget all about it.

Q: QuestionI was just wondering what the the differences are between the 900H & 950H model in the 900H series that just came out?
Asked by confusedonmodeldiff.
- A:Answer 900h better for gaming as has HDMI 2.1 and VRR. 950h is best if you're just going to watch TV, stream and movies. It is brighter and has slighly better image quality. It also gas a wider viewing angle if you prefer that. I got the 900h as I play online games and will be getting an Xbox Series X this fall.
Answered by AVRocker
Q: QuestionHow many HDMI 2.1 ports does it have? Vrr?
Asked by Trickypat72.
- A:Answer Sony's answers are vague. On one discussion thread about the X900H, someone wrote, "at CES Sony confirmed to flatpanelshd and to Vincent that 900H will indeed have 4K-120 (HFR) in some of the ports. current Sony US 900H page also does mention HDMI 2.1 and 4K-120. [Another dealer's] page for 900H also explicitly mentions "Full HDMI 2.1, 48Gbs"."

Q: QuestionDoes this t.v have hdmi 2.1 ports at 48gbps (not 40gbps)? This is a must for PS5. HDMI 2.1 doesn't mean it's at 48gbps.
Asked by Tangledwolf.
- A:Answer Hi Tangledwolf, thanks for inquiring about the TV. The X900H will support up to 48 Gbps transfer rate to support 4K120, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) via a future firmware update. Regards, Erin
