“I have a few wide stripes of gold reflection across my screen anytime there is any external light in my viewing area (hanging light, lamp, etc) is this an effect of the anti-glare (please don't be) or a defect of this model? It's incredibly distracting.”

I have what I'd call normal light glare on my screen depending on the light coming through the window. I also have a lamp about 14 feet directly across from the screen and with that I might notice normal glare. I've not experienced anything like what your describing.
