A:Answer I would recommend the 7-function remote versus the 8-function remote...but check the packages in the store as they show the devices on each package that each remote will work with. We had the same debate when at a Best Buy store in St. Cloud, MN; we had a brand new Sony Bravia 40" TV that came with a remote - but an older basic DVD player that we got at Goodwill for $5.00 and it had no remote with it. But the 7-function remote worked great with the DVD player AND the newer Sony TV, right out of the package! So we were able to 'retire' the TV remote and use the one new remote for the TV and the older DVD player. You are wise to run with a Sony remote with your Sony components - chances are that it will work with everything, but stay away from the universal type remotes...it will be a gamble to buy them \ use them - they may work, they may not. Just my experience... FYI: Buy some AA batteries with the remote as it does NOT come with any batteries and you'll have to make a 2nd trip to the Target store for those! Happened to us, so it's experience talking here!
Good luck : > )
