• Hi Sam! Yes, you can have the screen off while listening to the sound in the background with the Sony - Bravia 9. All you need to do is press the Quick settings button located on your remote and then select "Picture off". We hope you find this answer helpful, regards. -Dominick

• Yes theres a option available in the setting picture off only sound that helps with that.
