Ever been to a movie theater? Look at the dimensions of the screens. Those dimensions cannot be duplicated on a television screen. Thus the aspect ratio used to fill a movie theater screen becomes what looks like "cropped" on a widescreen television with the most common ratio being 2.35:1. Closer to filling the screen is the less common 1.85:1 and then even more to a full screen is the very uncommon 1.66:1 aspect ratio. To fit your entire screen, these pictures would have to have the sides cut off and then stretched to fit. I don't t think that's what you want as you'll lose content and distort the picture. Bottom line? Your TV is a 16:9 aspect ratio and so movies have to have black bars on the top and bottom to preserve their original movie theater look. NakieJakie
