I have installed plenty of 900 and 950 series. Never have I seen a rainbow effect of color on the screen. Have you unplugged...waited 10 minutes and plug again to see if it changes? If not I would definitely exchange the TV. Good luck on finding one since they are discontinued.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The rainbow effect is normal. It is a side-effect of Sony's X-Wide Angle tech that is on the 55 inch and above x950H. It is a compromise. You can see great color and brightness even when not sitting directly in front of the screen with X-Wide Angle, but you do get the rainbow reflection when other light sources hit the screen.

This is normal, the layers of screen is deflecting the light giving that effect. I have seen this on many Sony TV's especially the 3D Models they made a few years back. I suppose it would still be there when the TV is running but normally the light output would negate this.
