• I wasn't involved in the development of this camera to be able to tell you why it doesn't have GPS. But if you would like to have GPS, you simply connect the camera to your phone via bluetooth and get instant geotagging on every photo you take. You do need to download the free app for the camera to your phone for this to work.

• Dedicated GPS drains batteries like crazy, especially on mirrorless cameras. Mirrorless cameras already struggle (albeit they are getting better) at keeping pace with DSLR's shots per battery charge. With that said, this camera DOES have GPS through a low energy bluetooth connection with your smartphone.
