Sony A7 series has 3 lines of products: 1) A7 R: stands for RESOLUTION which focuses on high-resolution stills photography 2): A7 S: stands for SENSITIVITY which focuses on low-light performance and videography 3): A7: that's a hybrid machine right in the middle with ok resolution and decent video capabilities. Technically both R and S are specialty series that are half a tier higher than A7 itself geared toward professionals which is reflected in its higher price points, and typically the latest top-end cameras don't have the software limit anymore meaning there is no more video recording limit anymore as long as the machines don't physically overheat. Currently, the S series is at A7S Mark3 the third-gen, while R is already in A7R Mark 5 which is the fifth-gen, while a7 itself is at 4th gen which is A7 Mark 4. Thus the names A7S3, A7R4, A7R5 and A74.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.those 3 cameras do not have 29:59 minute time limits. The A7IV and A7RV both have the new sony Bionz XR processor, have large photo buffers, and take high bit rate 10 bit 4k video. Both R cameras shoot at 61mp and the A7IV is 33. There are many other differences but those are some of the main ones.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No time limit. Biggest differences are in the A7RV AI Auto Focus which is exceptionally good and fast. The AWB is also very fast with lighting changes, Way faster than the A7IV or A7III. Displays are newer designs and fully articulating screens, better EVF make the A7RV an even better hybrid camera.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I returned an A7Riv and bought a Sony A7iv (and 3 prime lenses) because the menu system was updated to be touch screen, and the screen swivels out, and you can save more settings with the A7iv. It looks like the number of saved settings on the A7Rv is set up the same as the A7iv. I bet the screen probably has the updated swivel, and also probably has the new improved menu system. There are some really good youtube videos that compare the different systems. My A7iv recently got stolen, so if the new menu system, swivel screen are on this one, I'll probably get this one instead of replacing the A7iv I had. If you search Sony Ambassador comparison those folks will probably give you the best more complete comparisons.
