• Hi Chelly, the files will still be 42 megapixels since the adapter allows the a-mount lenses to be used on the camera body and does not affect the image megapixels captured through the camera sensor.

• Based on my experience it depends on the sensor (whether it's APS-C or 35mm full frame). The APS-C will be smaller. I used the Sony - E PZ 18-105mm f/4.0 G OSS Lens (which is APS-C) and my maximum resolution is at 18MP.
