Yeah, it's that good
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. It may be a few-years-old body, but it's really hard to beat the results and feature set on the A7RII. This is one of the first equipment/gear buys I've made in the long time that I didn't end up with any remorse or gripes over - the worst I can report is that the smartphone/computer wireless connectivity can be a little difficult, but is MUCH better after the latest firmware and in-camera app updates. So far I've done a wide variety of shoot types, including some time-lapse and gimbal video w/ cold shoe light, and any complaints I have about the end results are due to my own skills. I've even done a few webcasts using the software without an HDMI capture card and the quality was fantastic. I think unless I suddenly have a need to get heavy into 60fps 4K video, this will be my main body for a long time. Menus are, as Sonys seem to be, a little on the less-than-ideal side but can be made sense of and learned. Not having a fully articulating touch viewscreen is an annoyance but I've only really missed that functionality when shooting gimbal video, and I think what I really want is an external viewscreen. Intense color backlighting can result in some aberration but I think that's more due to how I'm lighting and exposing, though there are plenty of real-pro reviews you can read that dive into this technical world in better detail. Sony Alpha 7R2
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I really have been loving shooting with this camera. Although the battery life isn't the best it's great because it comes with an extra battery and external charger for simultaneous charging. It can also be used while be charged with a power bank on the go. It also has 1080p 60 fps recording that can be sent directly to your phone which the A7r3 and beyond do not.

Great Camera
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I’m really enjoying the migration to digital photography with my Sony. Image resolution is amazing thanks to the 42.4 mp image sensor. Focus is is fast, quiet, and accurate with several different focus modes. Due to the magnesium alloy chassis, the camera has the solid feel of a 35 mm film camera like the Olympus OM-2n that has been my workhorse camera for years. It does not feel cheap or plasticky. Body weight feels the same as my 35 mms. The biggest difference is not having to grope around the lens to adjust the aperture or miss a shot because I couldn’t focus fast enough. That being said, there are 2 issues with the camera that I need to mention. The first is the disappointing battery life. It is rated for 290 shots per charge. Keeping the included spare battery charged and ready is a must. Second, and this is purely my gripe, unlike my Nikon D5200, the rear LCD display cannot be turned completely around when not in use to protect it from damage. It is also not fully articulated, however, I don’t think that this is as much of an issue as I anticipated.

Awesome sensor and image quality
||Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.I am a pro photographer and have used and worked on almost every brand camera since 2006. Sony A7Rii was introduced in 2015 and was way ahead of its competitors at that time. And still in 2021 this camera doesn't let you feel like you are using some 5 years old technology. Sensor is very much superior. You get clean and crispy picture up high ISO. Sharp images with so much detail packed in 42 MP RAW file. Cropping is fun on this camera. I bought this at best buy with the best price available. Bought as a backup camera to company my sony A7iii but this one is now main camera :) love it.

All that and more!
||Posted .All of the previous positive comments have been correct. This camera produces the sharpest images available, IMHO. I started years ago with a Sony A6000. When I started shooting commercially, I switched to what I thought would be a better camera, the D7500. It wasn't long until I made the switch back to Sony. In addition to superior image quality, the user interfacing is so much smarter and more practical than the Nikon. I also purchased the 24-240 mm zoom lens which has been great... but when the A7rii is combined with the fixed lens, f1.8 50mm, there are no crisper images known to man... or at least to me. I'll never leave Sony again.

Worth it!
||Posted .Got this as an open box item, not in the best condition as there where some items missing and you can tell the camera had been dropped so I did get the insurance as a precaution. The quality of the camera is outstanding. I especially enjoy using the APC mode to give me that extra reach when I need it but it does drop the megapixel count to 18. Eye auto focus works great as well.

Great High Resolution
||Posted .I was undecided between the Sony a7iii and the higher resolution a7rii. I went with the a7rii because the image quality seemed so much better in all the samples I studied. I am a Nikon shooter who is looking for a more compact form factor for hiking, without compromising quality. The Sony delivers. The Sony a7rii has somewhat of a learning curve, but there are plenty of resources to help. Bottom line, I would buy this camera again, and I highly recommend it.

Awesome Camera
||Posted .For the past few months I have been switching from different camera brands. First I bought Canon 5d markiii but I returned it and I replaced with Nikon d750 but after weeks I returned it again coz I found the revolutionary mirrorless camera the Sony a7r ii and I love it so much. It takes really great pictures. So many cool features The customization makes it easy for me to use this camera. I still have so much to learn about this camera. Here's my sample pictures that I took.

Sony Alpha A7R IIIn the newly reignited war over resolution in pro cameras, Sony's A7R II slips in at 42 megapixels, right between the Canon 5DS R 's 50MP and the Nikon D810 's 36MP. But the camera doesn't really need to claim highest resolution to stand out in

Q: QuestionLense compatilityCan I use my lens from my old NON Mirror lens with a Sony a7Rll Mirrorless cameras ?
Asked by Cal.
- A:Answer I use Canon lenses with a7rII. I use a Metabones IV adapter and the autofocus transfers well.
Answered by Animorfix
Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between a mirrorless and a mirror camera?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Compact system cameras or mirrorless camera don’t have a mirror to bounce light from the lens up into a pentaprism or pentamirror unlike DSLR. Mirrorless camera also do not require mechanical movements, an electronic shutter usually enables faster shutter speeds than a normal shutter curtain found in DSLR. Regards, Zander

Q: QuestionDoes the Alpha A7R II use FAT32? If so, are videos limited to the 4GB file size?
Asked by Fred.
- A:Answer Hi Fred, I'm not 100% sure about Fat32 The file formats (per owners manual) are XAVC S 4K XAVC S HD AXCHD MP 4 File size: AVCHD Format= 2GB MP4= 4GB I use my a7Rii for photo only. Last year I needed to record lots of video for a week long event with music and I needed to be able to record more than 29 minutes at a time. The sales person at Best Buy recommended I go with the Sony FDR-AX53 Handy Cam 4K. It worked out really well. I also bought (not at Best Buy) a Rode Stereo Video Mic Pro to go on the hot shoe of the handy cam and I couldn't have been more happy with the results. Your wants and needs may be different than mine. Hope any or all of this helps.

Q: QuestionWhat is the file format of this camera for the still images?
Asked by Oh.
- A:Answer Hi Oh, the only two format available are RAW and JPEG. The RAW files will show .ARW at the end of the filename and the JPEG one will show .JPG . These settings can be change here : https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1520/v1/en/contents/TP0001087232.html?search=jpeg

Q: QuestionIs this camera compatible with WI-FI? Dont see thewifi print on the camera side Also whats the difference from full framecamera and DSLR camera
Asked by Lou.
- A:Answer Yes, it has wifi. The sensor is "full frame" in the sense that it's the same size as 35mm film, and has absolutely no relationship to a dslr except that many dslrs also contain "full frame" sensors. The notable difference between this camera and a dslr is that this camera contains no mirror. The viewfinder is electronic. It is an excellent camera, but it is mirrorless, so you might want to research a bit to make sure it's right for you and your needs.

Q: QuestionIf I use the adapter with my a mount lenses, will the files still be 42 megapixels or will they be smaller?
Asked by Chelly.
- A:Answer Hi Chelly, the files will still be 42 megapixels since the adapter allows the a-mount lenses to be used on the camera body and does not affect the image megapixels captured through the camera sensor.
