Canon EOS R8: Small Camera, Big Results
The Canon EOS R8 honestly impressed me a lot. It’s small, lightweight, but the image quality feels like a much more expensive camera. The full-frame sensor delivers really natural colors, good dynamic range, and the files are very easy to edit in post. The autofocus is excellent — face and eye detection are fast and reliable for both photos and video, which makes shooting moving subjects way less stressful. The 4K video looks clean and sharp, great for content creation and more serious projects. I really like how easy it is to use and how comfortable it feels to carry all day. The image stabilization helps a lot, especially for handheld shots. On the downside, the battery drains pretty fast if you shoot a lot of video, and there’s no built-in flash, so you’ll need extra gear for low-light situations. I also wish it had a few more physical buttons for quicker adjustments. Overall, the R8 is a very well-rounded camera and a great choice for creators, enthusiasts, and anyone who wants pro-level results without overcomplicating things.

Lightweight budget camera for professionals
I’ve been really impressed with the Canon EOS R8. The image quality is outstanding, even in low light, and the autofocus is fast and accurate, especially for people and animals. It’s lightweight and easy to carry around, which makes it perfect for travel and everyday shooting. The battery life could be better, but overall it’s an excellent full-frame camera that delivers great performance for both photos and video.

I normally shoot with a Canon R6 for my photography business, so I definitely didn’t want to sacrifice on quality. Ken helped me choose the Canon R8, and I’ve been blown away by how great the quality is—especially for a lighter, more travel-friendly setup. It’s the perfect backup camera for my professional work and exceeded my expectations. The camera performed beautifully on my trip—I captured stunning photos and videos, and the highlight was when my sister-in-law used it to capture the moment I got engaged!
