Blu-ray player run on computer hardware with java , some exploit are already know , the best pratice is avoid unknow source blu ray disc and dont connect you blu-ray player on internet Note this apply to every connected device , there all computer and can be infected without we know!!!

I don't know the operating system that runs the player, but I assume it would be harder to get a virus on this player because a virus is just code written to interact with other code. If the bluray player is running proprietary code, the likely hood that a virus was written to exploit the bluray player is certainly much lower than a PC or Mac.
