This Sony BDP-S5500 Blu-ray player offers excellent picture quality at a reasonable price. It is very compact & set up was easy. It handles a wide range of disks including 3D Blu-Rays, as well as DVDs & audio CDs. It upscales DVDs to Full HD 1080p resolution. I also like the fact that it has a front USB slot for photos & video. I haven't tried the Wi-Fi yet but overall it seems like this Sony has a lot of features & is a good value for the money.

needed a new DVD player and found this higher end unit with all the features I wanted at a good price. Very compact size and stylish design. Compatible with blu ray, 3D and home Wi Fi so it plays netlix and other on line services. Vey cool.

I purchased this 3D Bluray player becase it's small compact and delivers a great quality picture. I liked the small compact size of this player and decided to give it a try. It was easy to set up and connect to my internet network and download numerous apps like VUDU, HULU, Crackle and YouTube just to name a few. I just connected my HDMI cable and the power cord and was ready to go. The 3D feature is great and easy to use with an HD TV and glasses that are sold separately. I liked it so much, I purchased (2) more units for my other televisions. If your looking for a great quality 3D Bluray player, I suggest you give this unit a try!!!

I needed a simple SONY Blue Ray player for the living room for DVD's and Blue Ray disks. This fit the ticket and also did the function of a Netflix and Hulu enabled wifi connected streaming player. Easy Remote with quick jump buttons. Easy setup Power and HDMI plug. Please do the Firmware Software Update after you get it connected it helps with issues that might be there with unit. NO PROBLEMS with this unit and very good unit. Affordable and flexible.

I love this DVD player. I bought this one for my living room and I bought another one (without 3D) for my den. The user interface has been updated and it is very easy to follow. There are plenty of apps to customize your home screen. My TV was purchased in 2012, so the WiFi is a bit outdated and slower. I use my DVD player for streaming movies. My Internet is slow, compared to what I would get in the city. This DVD player streams like a champ. The picture is crystal clear. The 3D is amazing. I was deciding between this Sony and a Panasonic DVD player. I went to Best Buy and the Panasonic was not available. The BB employee answered all of my questions and helped me decide based on my needs. I was very pleased. I also like that it is small and lightweight. The remote could use some updating. I don't like where the Home button is located. Sometimes I accidentally hit it when I am trying to use the down button. For a mid-range player, I don't think it gets much better.

Replacing our 1st generation Samsung Blu-Ray that quit working, checked online for a new Blu-Ray player that had Wifi and found this Sony model. Has preloaded apps like Netflix, Facebook, Pandora, etc. Blu-ray works great and easy to setup and easy to use. Well worth the price. Sony is a great brand. Highly consider this when purchasing a Blu-Ray

Purchased this for use in a guest bedroom. Works great for streaming. Seems to pick up our wifi signal better than the video smart tvs we have. Excellent for the mlb streaming package as well. Blue ray and 3d movies look great as well. Takes a little extra time to start up when on energy saving mode, but not enough to be an annoyance.

My daughters and I are pleasantly pleased with the DVD Player. I have not purchased a DVD in over 12 years and when our last one started skipping and not playing all of our DVDs I knew it was time to start looking for a new DVD player. I ended up purchasing this model for a few reasons. First, I was completely surprised with the price, I was sure I would have to pay much more for a 3D DVD player. Second, the unit was a fraction of the size it was replacing and lastly, we were completely surprised to see all of the apps that came with the player - this eliminates the need for Chromecast on that TV. One last thing. I would have never thought of purchasing the DVD player, that was not the intentional reason why we stopped at Best Buy. I just happen to inquire about 3D DVD players and the Best Buy representative showed us this particular player and it seemed to fit our need. Set up was extremely easy and the picture quality is fantastic!!

This DVD player has a small footprint and performaned very well out of the box. The set up was easy and I am pleased with the quality. I have been pleased with my purchases of Sony equipment in the past and I feel that this DVD player will live up to those expectations.

This is a replacement TV. Works well. Picture is crisp and clear. Easy operation. Easy set up. Perfect size for a smaller family room. I am pleased with the quality and operation.

I needed a blu ray player that would play 3D discs for my new set. The player has a great picture and the online apps are a breeze to use. The player integrates well with my Sony set and 3D discs look fantastic. The player has a nice picture compared to another player and my PS3. The unit is pretty small and lightweight, but its packed with features that most people would enjoy. I can't comment too much on the sound because there is only an HDMI output and digital output. Otherwise, the picture is great and totally worth the price. Recommended for sure.

Having cut the cord several years ago we needed a streaming option for our basement TV. This unit is small and light. Easy to program remote with a dedicated Netflix button and a spare favorite button that can be set to the streaming app of choice. Adding the older Sharp flatscreen to the remote was very easy. No endless trying of codes to finally find one that works. Simple key press combinations by manufacturer and it works for power, volume, and inputs. It's on the opposite side of the house but same floor as the router and we have no connection issues.

This was very easy to set up. It has a lot of apps (many I haven't heard of) and a great picture. For the money, you can't beat it.

The perfect low cost but full featured Blu Ray Player. Easy set up, small profile, and has lots of options.

I purchased the 3D wireless version since it was on sale and was the same price as the other model. Great choice. Set-up was easy and took 2 minutes after activating the wireless. DVD blue-Ray is very sharp. Have not tried 3D yet, however the wireless is great. No issues at all watching Netflix and remote button takes you there quickly. Got it on sale for $79 and it was well worth it. Very happy with this purchase!

I'm very happy with the DVD player, it has excellent picture quality, you'll need a HDMI cable for best results. it has a very convenient and useful USB slot, where you can use to download movies or pictures and see them in you TV set, you can stream Netflix, Amazon movies, etc using WiFi or an Ethernet cable, it has a 3D capability but you need a 3D TV to see the effects. I totally recommend it.

We bought this due too price match in store. We needed a player for the holidays and this foot the bill for our 3D movie watching. Unit is small and was easy too hook up. When we tried too connect too an older TV there where no component connectors in the back which would have been nice too have. we use VUDU service and this worked great wirelessly with the on screen selections.

I love my Sony Blu-Ray player! It has multiple options from a DVD, Blu-Ray, CD, also Netflix, Amazon Prime and many, many more options! Very easy to install. The remote is extremely easy to operate and not hard at all to switch between programs. I would recommend this Blu-Ray player to everyone. It even plays 3-D discs!
