Performance is excellent. Easy to set up. Size is smaller than other players and fits nicely with our set up.

Remote is easy to use and fits well in the palm of your hand. The unit was easy to setup and connected Easley to the wi-fi. The Netflix button is also a nice touch bought a Samsung player didn't care for it also it didn't have a light to show you if the unit was on or off. I highly recommend the Sony Player. If you have a 4K TV you will want the next model up the S 6500 I also bought that unit and it works excellent.

Hook up was easy. Very small footprint so it almost disappears on my console. Great unit for the price.

So far, I am enjoying the features of the bdps5500. I like the smaller box for taking up less room. Also, I like the streaming apps, and the ease of getting other apps. Also he ease of connecting another device, like a hard drive via USB port, to view its material. The only knock I have is some known apps are not able to be downloaded, such as Flixster. I have some flixster movies, but can't watch them because of this situation.

Chose this over the Samsung for its compact size without compromise on the features / specs. I am using it in a portable outdoor theater set up. Played a few movies at family reunion events over 4th of July weekend and it worked without a hitch and fits neatly in the carry bag for my projector. 4 stars for now only because I have used the player only a few times. Will update the rating after a bit more use.

Small and compact. Plenty of features. Easy set up and connect to a wireless network.

It has wireless, 3d, and a bunch of apps. I got it for Netflix and it is great. fast and great image quality with no stalls during playback like my old player. I have not used it for 3D, but it's worth it even without that feature anyway. Very nice and inexpensive. Anyone looking for a low cost streaming blu-ray player should look into getting this one.

I bought this item to replace a Blu-ray player that quit working. We use it to play blu ray and dvd's. The picture quality is really good. We also use it to stream movies and tv shows on Hulu, Netflix, etc. Thus far everything is working great. Just wish we had a better and faster Wi-Fi. But no complaints about this piece of equipment.

If looking for a blu-ray player that will also play blu-ray 3D then this one fits the ticket. A bonus is that the size is compact and limits cabinet clutter as well. Only negative is that (like most of its competitors) it does not come with HDMI connecting cable.

My first blu-ray player....Easy set up, compact design.

After doing some research I found this player to be just the ticket for a gift for my son. He had not yet purchased a blue ray player. He has informed me that he loves the player and had no problem setting it up. He loves the features of the player and the apps. He now likes being able to go online through the player.

Recently purchased a 4k 3D television and wanted the perfect player to add to our home theater. After reading several reviews we decided on the Sony S5500. It has worked perfectly and we love the compact size of the player. Menu is easy to use and works great with our HDMI pass-through receiver and Logitech remote.

With memberships to various online streaming services and a ton of blue-ray movies, I was looking for the perfect all in one unit. Ultimately this did the trick. The selling point was of course the brand. This was going on a Sony TV and the way sony devices work is that their remotes, universally work with each other.

Not sure why every BD player now needs to have 30 different menu options every time you fire it up. This is a good BD player and the wireless internet works well, as does the Netflix, etc. Just wish I could put a BD disc in and have it start playing without having to go through 19 different menu options first. Such is electronics nowadays.

This is a good starter player, it was easy to set-up and get connected to my wireless gateway. It has a lot of pre-loaded apps to look into and this player have a USB port to allow you to connect a hard/thumb drive to be able to play downloaded videos (this supports a lot of formats). Overall for the price, this is a good player.

Easy set up and viewing, great picture quick setup

To start off this is my third attempt to get a good player from Sony. I have had to take 2 previous models back before this one both with Wi-Fi problems and spin up clicks. Don't get me wrong all three have a great picture and do well but the first two went out either right after the one year warranty or just before. Thank goodness for extended warranties!!! So far this one is doing well , there is a slight problem where it starts off every dvd without going into the pre- movie stuff and on some movies the screen is set to far down and there is a 4 to 6 inch space at the top of the screen but not at the bottom. The two players I went in for were either sold out or was just a gimmick to draw you in . Consumers report showed then to be a full five stars and this was right at 4. So please check and review on line before purchasing any player

9" wide x 7&3/8" deep x 1&1/2" tall, fits in small spaces, hooks up easily, no fiber optic cable hookup, coaxial digital audio only,or use an HDMI cable for picture and audio, great picture, connects to the internet quickly, blu-rays look great on it. This is a short term review, only had it 1 week so far, all is well.
