its the refresh rate. With some 60 HTZ TV's especially with a larger screen you can get some pixelization when watch fast moving pictures like football for example .However the way the Sony processes the picture and forgive meI do not understand the technicalities, you do not see this. They use something they call true motion technology and it smooths out the picture. Even on their more expensive sets they only have 120htz, On this set you will not notice it or at least I haven't. dont let the 60 htz rating bother you. This picture is excellent.

So you might notice it when watching sports where there's constant movement. If you want to save a few hundred $ than go with a 60z, I'll doubt you'll notice the difference.
