We have DirecTV as well. We have sound bars on our three Sony TVs. They work with the DirecTV remote. If you hook up the speakers correctly, and refer to the Sony paper manual or e-manual, I believe you will find out exactly what to do. In addition, I have gotten very helpful responses when I have called Sony directly.
