“Bought this recently. How the heck can I turn it off? I did what the manual said, hit power button. (duh!) But all I get is "standby" mode. What could I possibly have done to cause it, and how do I undo it? TY!”

• Mine does the same. I think only if you unplug it does that go away. Like many appliances, without unplugging it uses a bit of electricity after pressing power to OFF. My coffee pot would keep the time, but I keep unplugging it.

• The standby mode is default when it is turned off only while plugged in. It can also work with C batteries.
