• If it is unplugged it starts over, in standby mine will restart where I stopped it

• No, this unit comes with a resume play feature only to continue where you have left when it has been paused only. Keep in mind that the resume play option will also be canceled if you open the CD compartment or you turn off the power. ~Jeannette

• Recall that this unit mainly plays audio CDs and MP3 files from CD or USB flash drives; it may play additional content types, but the manual is with the unit at the skilled nursing facility with my mother. Check the Sony website to see additional details. I do not recall any bookmark features within the file that is playing.
