OK, the radio appears to be a basic analog radio with AM (amplitude modulation) and FM (frequency modulation) tuners. hd2 appears to be a new "hybrid digital" signal, rather than a traditional analog signal. The radio does have bluetooth, so the only way that I can see it getting hd2 would be through an hd2 app on your phone with a bluetooth pairing of your phone to the radio. I am not an electronics expert, so you may want to talk to someone with more knowledge than me. I hope your uncle gets the stations that he wants!
