“Dumb question, but I don’t know anything about home audio. I bought some edifier bookshelf speakers (r1850db) and this subwoofer, and I’m wondering if I need an amp to get them to work together. I’m waiting for the speakers in the mail at the moment”

This subwoofer does not require an amplifier because it is built-in but my experience with this subwoofer has been so profoundly disappointing, I would return it if I were you.

The SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer usually connect to an amplifier or AV receiver that supports one or both of the following connections: - MONO OUT jack - MIX OUT jack - SUBWOOFER output jack(s) - SUPER WOOFER output jack(s) • You can also connect your amplifier or AV receiver if it does not have the above-mentioned output jacks to the SPEAKER IN terminals of the subwoofer. From what I can read online, your R1850DB has Subwoofer output. So yes, our SA-CS9 should work, but please check your manufacturers information to confirm.
