FYI, this is a feature that Sony TVs had for a while, but it appears they dropped by the A8H. If you can find an A8G then you can save some money and it should have this feature.

It appears as mentioned above that Sony eliminated support for an external subwoofer to be added on the Sony A8H 65 OLED. Super frustrating because the behind-the-screen built in TV speakers sound pretty amazing with great spacial audio, however it really needs the extra bass. I was excited to add my sub, then realized the headphone audio output no longer has that option. I hope they do a firmware upgrade but it seems unlikely.

You will need a receiver to connect this subwoofer. Tv’s do not have a plug for a pre amp output which the connection this subwoofer uses. You will have to a receiver using optical or connect your cable box to the receiver using HDMI. If you connect using HDMI make throughout HDMI is enabled

Thank you so much for your inquiry. Unfortunately, no. The SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer usually connect to an amplifier or AV receiver that supports one or both of the following connections:

- MONO OUT jack
- MIX OUT jack
- SUBWOOFER output jack(s)
- SUPER WOOFER output jack(s)

• You can also connect the amplifier or AV receiver if it does not have the above-mentioned output jacks to the SPEAKER IN terminals of the subwoofer.
