“How do the speakers physically connect to my laptop, i.e. can I just plug the jack in? I am keenly aware that my knowledge and experience is very limited! I just want to be able to order it pick it up, and plug it in. Thanks very much for your help.”

Hi Gmom, Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, we are unable to connect these speakers directly to your computer. You will need an amplifier or a receiver to connect the speakers and then use a 3.5mm jack to connect to your computer or laptop. I hope this helps! -Carl
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. You need a digital to analog converter (DAC) and an amplifier. The speakers will connect to amplifier, the amp to the DAC and the DAC to your laptop. If your laptop has a built-in DAC then you can connect directly to the amplifier.
