You have to use an amplifier between the turntable and these speakers. These are not powered speakers (Thank God they are not). Also you need to make sure your amplifier supports a magnetic pick-up (Likely you will have a magnetic pick-up rather than ceramic or piezo on your turntable). Magnetic PUs have much better quality, but their output is so low that they require pre-preamplifier circuit in the amplifier. It is possible that some new amplifiers might not have magnetic PU input. And yes, if you have such connection, the turntable will sound great.
