yes the plug in is on the side of the camera.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the camera can use USB power during operation. Make sure that "USB Power Supply" in the settings (toolbox) menu pg 4 is set to "On". The (micro) USB port is on the right side of the camera and will not interfere with a tripod mount. You will not be able to use HDMI out while mounted on a tripod due to the location of the micro HDMI port being right next to the 1/4"x20 tripod screw mount.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have not tried it, however the AC micro USB port is on the side and high so the cable can be attached while on a tripod. The manual indicates that you can take pictures and videos while on AC power.
