I cannot see a reason why you should fail on this expedition. Try a similar effort before going out where lighting might be a problem. Follow the instructions, and you cannot fail

Olympus screens are larger MAY BE EASIER TO READ. Have tried / tested several sub $100 recorders. If this is really important you should consider professional units in $200-$300 range as they offer more powerful STEREO microphones.
