“On the subject of transferring pictures to a desktop computer: I saw a couple Q+A's on here but is still unclear. Is there a way to copy pics directly from the camera/card to a desktop? Reason I ask - The USB that's included is called a "micro-usb".”

The micro-USB cable is a standard cable for a lot devices. The "micro" end plugs into the camera, and the USB end will plug into any USB port on your computer. It should work just fine as long as you have a USB port on your computer, which you should have. When connected, your computer should read it as a external hard-drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The micro connector goes into the camera and the standard usb connector goes into the computer for transferring/uploading pictures and videos. USB sticks are available that accept memory cards as well where you take the card out of the camera, insert it into the usb stick and then plug the stick into your computer.
