Yes, this camera has advanced flash modes and backlight correction HDR for versatility.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can choose force flash or there is a backlight setting where it takes 4 shots and combines them. Work great for backlit objects out of range of flash and looks more natural.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a setting for backlighting. In scene selection, it is the picture of a sun and the plus sign. On the back of the camera, on the left side of the large wheel, there is the symbol of a "lightning bolt". Click down the left side of the wheel and all of the flash symbols will come up on the screen and you can scroll to the setting you want (using the same large wheel, press the top of the wheel to go up and press the bottom of the wheel to go down). When you have chosen what you want the flash to do, click the middle of the large wheel and it locks in your choice until you repeat the process and change your setting.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The camera has a "backlight" setting and the flash can be turned on manually in some "scene" modes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends which mode you are using. The auto program mode auto flashes as needed. Try switching to a different mode (maybe landscape) and click the flash button on the right side of the large circle (to right of viewer) to select auto, off, on, etc. The camera does give pretty good descriptions of the modes, when changing & also for other options. You need to play with it for a while to figure out the different possibilities. The directions included with the camera should also give some good suggestions/info.
