“Does this lense work on the D3000? I do not know about lenses, but the wife is wanting a Macro lense for her D3000....would this one work? Or is there another that would work better in the $300 price range?”

The SAL30M28 Alpha 30mm f/2.8 Macro Lens is supported and compatible with the following DSLR α series Cameras. α100, α200, α230, α290, α300, α33, α330, α350, α380, α390, α450, α500, α55, α550 and α700, This lens will also fit the NEX 3, NEX 5 and NEX VG10 with the LA-EA1 mount adapter (Sold Separately) If you use this lens with any non Sony camera as long as it is an A-Mount style camera body it should fit, however the lens would be completely manual and it is unlikely any of the focus motors would work.
