• A:Answer This DVD player doesn’t have an amplifier to hook up speakers. It has a left and right audio output for standard stereo connection to an older analog stereo receiver, and has a coaxial Dolby digital AC-3 output, so if you have a stereo receiver that supports that it coul be either 5.1 (5 speakers and 1 subwoofer) or 7.1 (7 speakers and one subwoofer) but you would need a complete system for the sound. It would support the HDMI interface to a TV that supports the built in 2 stereo speakers, or expanded soundbar and subwoofer if you have this already on your TV.

• A:Answer It will play mini discs from the camcorder, but I do believe they have to be “finalized” first by the camcorder. This closes out the recording session on the disc to allow it to be properly read and be compatible by most players.

• A:Answer No it does not play PAL format DVDs, only NTSC North American United States region DVDs. The United States used Region 1 , While Germany uses Region 2. You would have to buy a PAL/Region 2 player, a TV monitor to view it on also, and a special power converter to power both the Monitor and DVD player as well. It will however play the discs if they are formatted as region 0, or Region Free, you would have to try them on a PC with a special software player too see what it is though.

It plays DVD -R,DVD -RW, DVD +R, DVD +RW, Dual layer DVD, CDs, CDRs, CDRWs, and 3.5”camcorder DVDs that are finalized. An entry level Sony blu ray player such as the BDP-S1700U also has Ethernet streaming and DVD capabilities and also comes with HDMI cable for not much more than this unit and will play the blu ray discs too.
