I can't answer your question the way you probably would like. I love this camera but have had many sony camcorders for 20 years. I haven't had a battery issue because I have 2 batteries so one is always ready to go. just change them and recharge the one I take off. I have done this for years because when your traveling in places you won't go back to again you really want the video and pictures. Hope this helps
