Hi Frustrated, We understand your need to use your cable box remote to control the soundbar. Most of the cable company remotes don’t control audio products only TVs. You can use the Sony remote to control the cable box and as long as soundbar is connected through HDMI 3 eARC, the TV will control audio output on soundbar. -Ralph
