I would strongly recommend not blocking the be top of this soundbar or you won't properly hear the sound via Dolby Atmos with the up during speakers. I have mine on a table out in front of the TV. The more room you give the better. If blocked, you might go with a sound from Sony that stimulates Atmos without the up during speakers. I think their 8500 soundbar does this and costs a fraction of the cost. Or demo it and return if not satisfied.
