“How do you avoid the home menu on startup? I want to make it auto select hdmi 1 and not make me manually select it every time upon start up. Is this not possible? If not, this is a huge miss and is adding a manual action in an automated world.”

Start up screen is going to be whatever it is plugged into. Not what is plugged into it...

To help you resolve this issue, first, please make sure that the firmware version of the soundbar is up to date. And can you tell us if you're using the HDMI cable that came with sound bar or using Audio Quest directional cable? If you're using an audio quest cable, make sure you're following the install direction and arrows on HDMI cable.
