• Depends on your phone model and how you have it setup when you plug it to a USB multimedia or other device. In androids it's simpler than iPhone but if you know how to change the settings, you can charge.

• No, you cannot charge your phone through this device. It only includes a microUSB port for charging the device itself (aka no power output).
