• Depending on the size of your pool area, I think you'll want something a lot bigger than this. I think it could work for background music, but I don't think it will be loud enough for anything more than that.

• I'm going to say no to this one. The speaker is loud, but still not very large. It's great for indoor use, but outdoors the sound would get swept away too quickly. I would recommend a large stereo or boombox for outdoor use.

• You might be able to hear one over the splashing, but I'm sure that you would begin to get sound distortion with only one, if you had the 3 speaker set up you would definately hear the music over the splashing. I haven't turned my volume all the way up on mine because I haven't had the need to do so.

• Yes it's loud enough to have it in your backyard pool party! I had a teaparty a few weeks ago and it was awesome to have music...I'm really happy with my portable speaker

• You'll lose quality the louder it plays - but it will perform and provide for a nice background level of music even with the noise of a pool party.
