Don't sweat the original headset. Find the style of headset you prefer from other manufacturers. I use Skullcandy earbuds and I get great sound. You just need a headset wire that is "kick-free."

Any ear buds will work just fine. I use ear buds because the earphones weren't as functional as I wanted. Also, I think the reception is even better now (the S2 uses the ear phones wire as the antenna.)
