“Understanding I still need to wirelessly connect to a smartphone for image review, controls and such, can you tell me if the grip is compatible with the QX30 lens camera? I love the QX30, but handling with progressively thinner phones is clumsy.”

Circling back around to Sony, I was able to find the compatibility matrix for my lens camera - while this grip doesn't appear to be compatible, the down-level version of this (without the built-in camera controls) is, so that's the direction I went. Thanks!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use it on a Sony rx100m3 camera and it works great. Connects into the mini USB port. I do not know if it will work on anything other than a Sony camera. Check the manufacture compatibility list.

I bought this grip to use with a hand held Sony video camera that was compatible with the previous model of this grip. This one wouldn't connect to my camera. The usb looks like a normal usb online, but the "shank" of it is much longer than a normal usb connector. So, it wouldn't make contact in the normal usb port in my Sony video camera. Look out! It may only fit Sony cameras listed in its sales / instruction manual that have a port that is deep enough to accept its plug-in.
