It seems like those who have had problems with this unit freezing have had issues with cables or the CEC control. You might first want to try using a different cable that is certified premium for HDR. The other problem is sometimes related to the HDMI handshake between the player and tv or receiver. If you are connecting to the receiver first, you might be having a handshake issue with the tv. Try connecting the player to the tv directly, and use the second HDMI output of the player the Pioneer for audio if you haven't tried that. Some have also turned off the ARC control as that can have issues as well.
