“Can regular dvd's and bluerays be played on this?”

• Yes and Yes, it can play DVD's and Blue rays and I got the unit for my daughter, who said that her CD Player broke, so this unit will also play CD's TOO. She has already hooked it up and she says that it works great. If and when she upgrades her TV, it should also work very well, which is another reason why I purchased it for her birthday. Needless to say, she is very happy with her present.

• Yes, it plays pretty much any disc including older DVD's and recorded DVD-R discs and it can play them in original resolution if you do not want them upscaled.
