• The player will play normal HD DVD to a HD television set. If you feed it a 3D or 4K disk, it will refuse to play it without putting a message on the screen.

• Yes, but you will only get 1080p resolution. You need a 4k tv to process the higher resolution upscaling or 4k disc play.
